Moscow – City of Art, Power and Prayer

Moscow offers a unique mixture of antiquity and modernity. Its architecture ranges from the pure fantasy of St. Basil’s Cathedral to the harsh utilitarianism of early twentieth century Constructivism. Its art includes the most sublime icons and the most uncompromising abstractions of the avant-garde (with much between…). How can these two apparently opposite trends co-exist? One cannot begin to understand this paradox unless one visits Russia. Moscow is a living embodiment of the history of Russia, unlike any other city. On this tour we will savour the extraordinary variety and complexity of its history.
